Catalog: Dick Jewell presents the artist’s conceptual practice, which is based on social observations that question human behavior through parody, irony, and humor. Since 1968, when he began salvaging discarded photo booth pictures, his work has evolved toward increasingly expansive assemblages and reproductions of images. The book, published to accompany the exhibition at Graces Mews, traces this evolution chronologically: hand-cut compositions from newspapers and magazines in the 1970s, television images, and, finally, digital montages created with Photoshop. It includes an introductory essay by Charlotte Cotton and a text by Nobuhiko Kitamura.
