Photographer François Halard, known for his images of architecture and interiors, embarks on a new creative phase following an injury in 2024 that kept him at home. During that time, he began photographing nearby objects with a Polaroid camera, leading to the series Flowers, an exploration between the traditional and the abstract that reflects on the ephemeral beauty of nature.
In his second series, Art, Halard enlarges some of these Polaroids and intervenes them with paint, wax, and other materials, creating images with a strong sense of memory and history. Inspired by ancient sculptures and details of Renaissance art, these works transform the classical into something contemporary.
Both series play with the idea of the ephemeral and the permanent: the flowers capture the fleeting to make it lasting, while the works inspired by antiquity reinterpret the permanent as something transitory.
