The country life book of dogs

The Country Life Book of Dogs celebrates 70 dog breeds—classified by the Royal Kennel Club: hounds, working dogs, terriers, retrievers, herding dogs, toy dogs, and utility dogs—spanning 125 years of Country Life. Profiles are enriched with modern and archival photos, history, anecdotes, and folklore. It evokes the British rural idyll: Jilly Cooper and her rescued greyhound, Trudie Styler’s wolfhounds, royal dogs at Balmoral and Highgrove, and iconic estates such as Badminton, Belvoir, and Holkham. It highlights endangered breeds (Norwich terrier, otterhound) and revives aristocratic favorites: Pomeranians (Queen Victoria) and Chinese pugs.
